commemorative T-shirt for the todd newell
#livewellchallenge #LobsterChallenge 2018
The Live Well Challenge is and East Coast story about caring and sharing and helping those in their time of need.
Todd Newell a local fisherman wanted to do something for the families of 4 children lost in a tragic house fire. He decided to jump into the Live Well (a hold under the deck of a boat filled with water to hold the live catch) and donate $1,000 - part to the Family Fund and the rest to another charity. At this time of year the live well is filled with water barely above the freezing mark. He challenged 99 other captains to do this and to donate to a charity of their choosing.
Almost 1,000 have taken the plunge and over $900,000.00 has been donated to a variety of charities. For those who don't have a live well, the people who have taken the plunge have been getting creative, jumping in lobster holding facilities on shore, in the harbour, swimming pools, large boxes of water and even a bucket.
The story has been featured nationally, with live CTV National News coverage. It is a phenomenon that exemplifies all the values of our industry and coastal communities.
So we created a #LiveWellChallenge T-Shirt
All proceeds go to charity which works out to about $11.11 per shirt.
The Live Well Challenge HAS to reach the One Million Dollar Mark. All proceed from sales go to Todd Newell To Do As He See's Fit as he sets up a Non for Profit and hopes to make this an annual tradition for the industry.
