Vernon D'eon, our initial capital investor / backer and without him, we would not be in business.  Once a Lobster Fisherman, he sold his boat, gear and fishing rights to pursue manufacturing wooden Lobster Plugs (Pegs). Over 80 million plugs were sold in 1978 from Long Island to Labrador. Today’s "rubber" bands will soon evolve to our   Branded, Traceable and Reusable Silicone Claw-Bands. Acting as tiny billboards and raffle tickets to be distributed worldwide, that essentially converts Lobster into a ricochet of tourism revenue going back to our coastal communities like beautiful, historic Acadian Pubnico. "Home of the Lobster Plug" and Dennis Point Cafe.

#LiveWellChallenge on Broadway, NYC !!!

Working on it! This is a note to comefromaway.com from wanda joy atkinson

As an Atlantic Canadian I was thrilled to see a Newfoundland (East Coast) Storey make it to Broadway. Newfoundland wins hands down for hospitality, but her sister provinces aren't far behind.

The Live Well Challenge is another East Coast story about caring and sharing and helping those in their time of need and it would be delightful if Come From Away could be part of this in anyway (they don't have to donate).

A little about the Live Well Challenge - Todd Newell a local fisherman wanted to do something for the families of 4 children lost in a tragic house fire. He decided to jump into the Live Well (a hold under the deck of a boat filled with water to hold the live catch) and donate $1,000 - part to the Family Fund and the rest to another charity. At this time of year the live well is filled with water barely above the freezing mark.  He challenged 99 other captains to do this and to donate to a charity of their choosing.

Just two weeks in almost 1,000 have taken the plunge and over $750,000.00 has been donated to a variety of charities.  For those who don't have a live well, the people who have taken the plunge have been getting creative, jumping in lobster holding facilities on shore, in the harbour, swimming pools, large boxes of water and even a bucket.

Our story has been featured nationally, with live CTV National News coverage.

If there is any way you can join in this East Coast Phenomenon that exemplifies all the values of Come from Away, that would be beyond awesome.  Even after the show a cast member could step in a bucket of cold water and video it and post it, saying you are with us.
